400g canned tomatoes (or 3 fresh tomatoes, peeled and chopped)
1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh basil (for garnish)
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
Cook the spaghetti: In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt, then cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the sauce:
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add tomatoes: Stir in the canned tomatoes (or fresh ones) and season with salt, pepper, and oregano (if using). Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Add the tuna: Break up the canned tuna with a fork and add it to the tomato sauce. Gently stir everything together and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
Combine: Toss the cooked spaghetti in the sauce until well-coated.
Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and, if desired, sprinkle with grated cheese. Serve hot and enjoy !
